A friend of mine started a workout routine and after few days he stopped and I asked him why,he said it was stressful and hard to commit to,I laughed at him. The truth is a whole lot of us are like that I probably won’t want to start any workout routine any soon but starting something like that requires determination and discipline. Our devotion with God is paramount it should be known as an integral part of our everyday activities but I can keep painting a picture of what and how giving time to fellowship with God is but the truth is it’s not as easy as it seems ,as it is popularly said "it is easy said than done" exactly giving time for prayer and studying the Bible can be found boring by some people sincerely even I at times finds it difficult to keep up with it and to some people’s excuse it is time but we should also know that if you prioritize something or someone you’ll spare time to be with them or to engage in that thing. As much as every christain claims there love God only few give their time in devotion to him
Just like working out daily you won’t start off easy, devotion won’t just start off as a devotion it start as discipline like you do it because you have to do it as a believer just like my friend some of us hate working out but each time we make a plan to workout it’s a discipline we get there we do it irrespective of how we feel at that moment we tell ourselves "I’ve got to do this and I’m gonna do this, it doesn’t matter" that’s discipline, but after a while of consistent discipline it becomes a desire and anytime we miss a day workout we are like "oh man I missed my workout today, I need to go workout today" we feel like something wasn’t complete. Yeah discipline becomes a desire. The truth is our praying everyday and studying the word daily it won’t start off as easy but we need to be disciplined spending time with God in prayer and worship it will all start off as discipline and becomes a desire, because we’ve tailored ourselves into observing it daily by discipline it becomes a a part of us, personally I feel incomplete if I miss my devotion.
This new year one of the things we need to be very intentional about is our daily devotion with God, we give or time to things that seems important to us, we give our attention to those we love, our relationship with God shouldn’t be of any difference if we claim we love him. We should be conscious of things that pertains to our spiritual growth than anything else. Let’s make it a mandate to spend time to study, to meditate on God’s word and to pray. And you know what doing this like telling yourself “i’m gonna give God this 30 minutes of my time” or “I’m gonna give God this one hour of my time” or time you wanna start with, yeah it may starts off as a discipline but gradually it becomes a desire, it’s like taking a very good chill drink I mean a very good one like gulping it down your throat, you don’t wanna stop because it’s quenching something on the inside
